Do you know what's in your food?

I don't know if anyone out there has been watching tons of tv lately but have you seen the commercials for high fructose corn syrup?? The corn manufacturers have banded together to reverse the tide of public opinion regarding their product. Most of the commercials are the same, person one offers person two food and person two says no because it has HFCS in it, person one asks why they think its bad and person two stares at them blankly while person one tells them all the 'health benefits' of HFCS and they both end up eating the HFCS food.

These commercials bother me to no end.

The reason that HFCS is bad for you s because it's in foods that typically already contain sugar. So although it's 'fine in moderation' - it's never in moderation!! And on top of that it's also put in food that you wouldn't think even had sugar. You'll even find HFCS in yogurt!

Why not substitute HFCS for actual sugar? At least then you know what your getting into.

I've been reading a lot of Mchael Pollan lately and I agree with almost all of his ideas - I would encourage anyone that is interested in knowing more about their food to check him out.

PS. If a company has to tell you the health benefits of their product - you probably don't need to be eating it!
